Goodbye sweet Holland

This is the most difficult post I have had to do. On Friday evening (24 March 2006) at 11 months and 1 day old, my little angel left this earth. Sweet Kendra had been ill since Tuesday and was in ICU. Her little heart could no longer take the strain and gave up the struggle on Friday evening. If you can measure a person's worth by how many tears have been shed for them then Kendra was worth a lot. I will give you more information when I am more up to it. We still have to finalise details of memorial service etc. Thank you to everyone who has been there for us in these last few days.

I am so sorry for your loss. I work with Peter Vorsatz and he told me this morning about what happened. He was kind enough to give me your blog address. I have read your whole blog and it just screamed of love for little Kendra. Lucy said "heaven has gained another angel" and I think she is right. Nothing I can say can make this better but please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Vannessa, Gathry and Branston.
When we heard that little Kendra was sick, Amber and I sat down to pray - this was Amber's prayer:
Dear God
"Please make baby Kendra better and make sure that she never ever gets sick again."
I think my little girl's prayer was answered, for Kendra is now with God, where she belongs - dear sweet little angel.
So very, very sad to lose her on this plane, but we are so blessed that she could have touched our lives in the way she did.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
much love
Niel, Kerry and Amber

Fleeting Miracles

But for the grace of God
we would miss many small splendors.
Multi-faceted crystal snowflakes,
golden rays of sunlight piercing the dawn,
many-hued rainbows shimmering in the mist.

These treasures are beautiful
and priceless beyond measure,
but all are fleeting. . .

Enjoy them now
while you can,
and cherish them in that moment.
For God, in his infinite wisdom,
bestows such perfect miracles only briefly,
then they are gone.

I gazed at you my love
and beheld tiny perfection;
another small miracle,
so briefly experienced,
yet eternally loved.

I give you back now to Him
but will hold you in my heart forever.
For truly you are
my fleeting miracle--
my precious Grace of God.

My thoughts and prayers are with both you and your family during this time of loss and grief.

All my love

To Gathry, Vannessa and Branston... I am so sorry for your pain.

Branston remember that your sister loves you so very much and that she will always be in your soul, or that quiet little whisper you feel in your heart. You must surely be the biggest bravest little soldier ever, your mom and dad are so so so very lucky to have you, and Kendra even though she is in heaven now knows that's you're the best brother any girl could have.

Thank you Vannessa, Gathry and Branston, for being such a fantastic family... God had to search for a very long time before he found such an awesome family to be entrusted with such a beautiful little princess; and he couldn't have done better.

Sending you so much love and thoughts and prayers, Josh and Annie.

Vanessa, I have only recently started reading your blog and I'm extremely saddened by your loss. I cannot fanthom going through what you're going through but please listen, everyone in the world is put here with a purpose. only God knows what that purpose is and He chooses with care who a child is born to. I believe that baby Kendra's purpose in life was fulfilled. her life did not bring anything but happiness and love to all those whose life she touched. not just her family but all those in the blogsphere. she has made you, me, and everyone who has read/heard about her a better person and you should rejoice in the fact that your child was able to accomplish in just a few short months what some people never accomplish in their lifetimes.
God lent you this precious child because He knew that you would be changed forever. I will be praying for your family, Kendra doesn't need prayers since she is safe in the arms of the Lord. there she will be able to do all that she could not/had not been able to do in this earth. my heart and thoughts shall be with you and yours.
